'Modern Family' May END After Season 8

Modern Family is one of TV's highest-rated comedies, but a network dispute could spell the end of the series when the season wraps on March 3rd.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show's studio, 20th Century Fox, has yet to ink season nine deals with any of the show's stars, including Sofia Vergara and Eric Stonestreet. In fact, negotiations have not commenced, and the next season has not even been ordered yet.
Two insiders told THR that the problem is a showdown between the studio and ABC over how to split the show's production costs, which have climbed incrementally higher as the years have gone by thanks to actors' salary demands. Insiders project that the cast will demand yet another raise if they are to continue shooting the series. The network and studio have a cutoff of mid-May to resolve their issues and make a deal for the future of the show.
