Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger Are Married! See Why They Insisted on a July 1 Ceremony
Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are officially husband and wife!
The couple tied the knot in front of around 50 friends and family on July 1 in the South of France at Château de la Napoule, a 14th century castle in Mandelieu. After the ceremony, guests feasted on a buffet of locally caught lobster, sea bass, and beef, enjoyed fireworks set off at midnight and danced until 6 a.m., reports E! News.
The newlyweds chose July 1 as their wedding day because it's officially Canada Day—Avril is from Ontario while Chad was born and raised in Alberta.

But there's another reason why the date is so special. "We met while recording music last March. But we started dating July 1, so I'll let the math speak for itself there," Chad recently told People. "We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day. We can't wait to start our life together. We're very happy."

This is Chad's first time down the aisle and the second for Avril, who ended her three-year marriage to Deryck Whibley in 2010. The rockers first grew close while they collaborated on her new album, Here's To Never Growing Up. After sparks flew, Chad didn't waste any time and he popped the question last August.

"I had been making this scrapbook of my time in the studio. I walk over and he had taken a photo of himself holding the ring box and put the Polaroid in my scrapbook," Avril recently revealed. "Because I had stickers everywhere he put in 'Will you marry me?' It was really romantic and kind of made sense."
As OKMagazine.com reported, Avril was thrilled with the 14-carat engagement ring Chad gave her. “I like it because it’s chunky and it sits low…it’s a pear shape so it’s different.”
