While all eyes are on Miley Cyrus' recent engagement to Liam Hemsworth, her dad is making some news of his own! Billy Ray Cyrus is gearing up for his big Broadway debut in Chicago!
The 50-year-old will play the role of Billy Flynn. He told USA Today, "I love acting, and I'm always up for learning new things." Considering he hadn't even seen the movie or the production on stage, about a year ago he simply had to check out a performance.
John O'Hurley played the role of Billy in the Broadway version, and then Billy saw Richard Gere in the film and pointed out, "I'm probably going to borrow from both performances but make it my own, as they say in the business." Then he added, "I get a little nervous thinking about it. Maybe a lot nervous."
He has some time to work off the nerves, after all his debut will occur this November.
As for dishing about his daughter's engagement, he addressed the rumors: "No date has been set. But I'm happy to see Miley happy. She's making new music and just really enjoying life. Miley and I have a mantra, something my father told me: 'If you're not having fun, it ain't working.' And we're having fun." Awww.
