Say it isn't so! John Mayer has been diagnosed with granuloma, a serious throat condition that left him with no choice but to cancel plans to sing in the near future. Although the Grammy winner's monitored the condition the past several months, doctors advised him to ditch upcoming appearances which include a performance with Tony Bennett in L.A.!

As noted by CNN, John's condition will delay his upcoming album, too. In his blog John wrote, "Born and Raised is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks. This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter."

Although the condition sounds serious, John sounds pretty optimistic that it's merely temporary! He wrote, "I'm not sure how long or short a period of time it will be."

He added, "I've got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all-clear. Until then I'll be spending time writing and composing more music and kicking an empty soup can around the West Village."
