Every week at okmagazine.com, accomplished designer Malan Breton takes a look back at the week in fashion — the Do’s, the Don’ts, and everything in between! Join Malan and OK! for Fashion Fridays!
“Give my regards to Broadway! Remember me….” Darlings a most memorable week in fashion, the rainiest 64th annual Tony awards brought out some of Hollywood and Broadways finest.
The true fashion winners were Cate Blanchette in Armani Prive, Jada Pikett Smith looked like a freshly plucked berry in her stunning Marchesa and her skin, flawless! I had the opportunity to chat with Laura Linney who looked stunning in bleu. The Queen of soul Aretha Franklin, who I had the honour of chatting with, it’s so lovely that after such an illustrious career she still retains her kind heart and beautiful smile.
Catherine Zeta Jones! Darling, If Barbie circa 1960’s had a sister that liked to match her eyeshadow to her dresses that was Mrs. Douglas on Tony night. She looked lovely in a very 60’s St Tropez Bond girl sort of way! Lea Michelle was giving us buttercup in her buttercup saffron gown and Scarlett Johanssen DARLINGS!!!! If Marilyn Monroe and James Dean had a love child that would be Scarlett, she exemplifies Hollywood’s of old and new, SOOOOOO CHIC!!!
Darlings always reduce reuse and recycle… Aretha did and so tastefully. From Sundays Tony’s to Monday’s Apollo Spring Benefit. I saw her in person in this dress darlings she looked stunning. A change of wig and viola!!! Jennifer Lopez grows more and more beautiful with each day, seen here with husband Marc Anthony, she simplifies elegance and gives it a chic edge!
Darlings let’s face it, the Kardashians are marketing geniuses! What family as a whole exemplifies beauty, fashion, heart and soul? From a business and style point of view I say bravo!!!
How adorable is Levi McConaughey? For style we give him a perfect 10! The hair, the Indian style shirt. Some adults could take a lesson from this little guy, and I hope they do!
Katy Perry in lingerie chic?!?! Darlings in Paris, Katy, was giving us Betty Page and Kathy Griffin chic! Did I just say Kathy Griffin chic?!?!, Oops! That’s like saying Rottweilers are not affected by halitosis! Ha ha just kidding we love Kathy, that was not a typo! HA!
UMMM!!!! Hilary Duff, what are you wearing? It appears she is channeling her inner leopard, but she looks a bit more like Brett Michael‘s circa 1995. Could I be mistaken are we on the verge of a hairband fashion revival. YAY!!! I miss Guns and Roses!
Glamour knows Glamour and at this years beauty awards Miss Kelly Rowland clearly wins for style, beauty and personality! Though I enjoy the ice skating events at the Olympics, the fashions do not translate well to the red carpet, Anna Kendrick is such a lovely girl next door type, she would look so lovely in red!
The Whitney museum is brilliant for its relevant art exhibitions and melding mainstream celebrity into chic art style. Christina Ricci a favourite of mine continues to symbolise style her beautiful bone structure makes her one of Hollywood’s most beautiful young actresses.
I adore Ivanka Trump, but darling did your designer forgot to cover your breast? Alec Wek in a gorgeous red gown shows us why her career of fifteen years as a supermodel is still going strong. Gorgeous!!! And Max Azria‘s gorgeous daughter Joyce and wife Lubov Azria are the perfect example of the beauty Max creates. Its not hard to be so inspired with such beautiful women around you all of the time.
Well, my darlings! Until we meet next Friday, have a glamorous week and try each day to feel a little more radiant, because luminous style makes everyone feel like a star!
