Jessica Chastain takes a break from the six movies she has in the works to honor her Help co-star Octavia Spencer for her work in Fruitvale Station.
“I’m very, very happy,” the Oscar-nominated actress, 36, says Tuesday during the National Board of Review Awards held at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC. “I have to make a speech, which I’m a little nervous about, but I’m doing it for a good cause—Miss Octavia Spencer.”
In fact, the redhead relies on her positive attitude to help her navigate through challenging scenarios, like brushing elbows with stars including Leonardo DiCaprio and Jake Gyllenhaal, who are also being honored tonight.
“My go-to beauty tip?” she asks. “Usually happiness.
Jessica certainly has reasons to beam. She was up for two Oscars including Best Supporting Actress for The Help in 2012, and Best Actress in 2013 for Zero Dark Thirty.
“The most exciting moment was the Oscars in 2012,” she confesses to me. “In the Alexander McQueen dress, standing next to my grandmother. It was a very emotional, beautiful moment for me.”
As for her philosophy for the perfect awards show dress?
“Something that makes me feel happy,” she says. “I have a wonderful stylist, and I love clothes so much.”
