'The Wonder Years' Star Danica McKellar Files For Divorce

The Wonder Years star and academic genius Danica McKellar is back on the market.

Best known as Fred Savage's love interest, Winnie Cooper, on the ABC series, Danica filed for divorce from her husband of three years, composer Mike Verta, on June 1. The couple cite irreconcilable differences as the cause and plan on splitting custody of their 18-month-old son, Draco.

After The Wonder Years ended in 1993, Danica wrote and directed a few short films and did guest spots on shows like How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory.

However, her biggest post-Years accomplishments hve come in the classroom.

Danica graduated from UCLA with a degree in mathematics, co-authored a scientific paper that resulted in the Chayes–McKellar–Winn theorem, and authored three books. Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail was a New York Times best seller intended to help young girls enjoy math. Her other tomes, Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's BossHot X: Algebra Exposed! and the upcoming Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape (due in August) are also math books for youngsters.
