Demi Lovato's MTV documentary, Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, airs tonight, and to help support the special, the singer performed on the Today show this morning. Demi explained to Ann Curry why she chose to be so public with her recovery and how much fan support has meant to her.
The 19-year-old singer got up early today to perform her song, "Give Your Heart a Break," and also promote her new documentary.
"Well, I've decided to tell my story because I know there are a lot of young teens out there, girls and boys, that are dealing with the same issues that I've been through," Demi said. "So if I'm able to use my voice to do good in the world then I definitely want to do that."
Demi also says that the encouragement of her fans means "everything" to her.
"I don't even have a word for it. It's amazing," she said of their support. "The fans that I have are incredible."
