Big Brother host Julie Chen is weighing in on the controversy surrounding houseguest Aaryn Gries' racist and homophobic slams during the first week of the show's 15th season.

"Personally I was offended. I was offended by all the comments—the anti-gay, the anti-black and the anti-Asian ones, obviously," Julie tells TMZ.

Ever the gracious host, Julie blames Aaryn's comments on the fact that she is young. "I'm hopeful that when she gets out she reads the headlines and that will force her to change the way she thinks," says Julie. "I'm hopeful, but I look at the glass half full."

As OKMagazine.com reported, Aaryn called one co-star a “queer,” sniped that an Asian-American contestant should just “shut up and go and make some rice” and warned others to “be careful what you say in the dark, you might not be able to see that bitch” in reference to an African-American cast member.
