It seems that greed really is good, or at least good for the movie business! The red carpet was packed at the premiere of the anticipated sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps at the Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC on Monday. Even Michael Douglas, who is currently battling stage IV throat cancer, attended and supported his co-stars.

The cast, which includes Shia LaBeouf, his on- and offscreen girlfriend Carey Mulligan, Frank Langella, Josh Brolin, Eli Wallach and Susan Sarandon, reads like a who’s who of Hollywood elite. Such a star-studded film had to have been a little intimidating for the younger actors, especially when lead by such a controversial director as Oliver Stone. Luckily for them, that feeling didn’t last long.

“I heard some crazy stories about him,” Carey said about Oliver. “I thought he would be a little eccentric, and he was warm and treats you like one of the boys, which I like.”

The actress continued, saying that it’s “always daunting to work with people you think are very talented, but they make you feel comfortable and they were all really generous. We had three weeks of rehearsals so we really got to know each other.”

The cast has also been very supportive of Michael since he announced his condition. Josh said that his co-star “seemed good considering what he’s been through. He’s allowing himself to be seen, he’s not allowing himself to be victimized. So, I’m really proud of him.”

In addition to the the film’s stars, the premiere attracted a wide range of attendees, including leading investor Warren Buffet, singer Rob Thomas, Tyra Banks, Barbara Walters, Courtney Love, Sela Ward and Krysten Ritter.
