Well, folks, it turns out that that private Instagram conversation that leaked yesterday between James Franco and a 17-year-old fan wasn't a fake. James went on Live with Kelly and Michael this morning and instead of denying the allegations and/or ignoring the issue altogether, James copped up to hitting on the underaged fan. And there we have it.

James said that he didn't want it to be awkward on the show (this appearance was pre-scheduled, as James is promoting his new film, Palo Alto, and his role on Of Mice and Men on Broadway simultaneously), so he decided to come clean, admitting that he used "bad judgment" and that he learned his lesson. He also said that it's a lot harder since he's in the public eye, but that even us regular folk can learn a lesson from this, which is essentially not to always trust online dating. But hey, we learned that already from Catfish, so...
