Almost immediately, the newlyweds received an outpouring of well wishes.

Congrats @niecynash1 !! Sending y’all so much love !!! commented Master of None actress Lena Waithe.

"So happy for you!" echoed Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

The wedding certainly comes as shock as most, as the two were never dating publicly and Niecy was not out. The couple have known each since at least since 2018 when the Jessica appeared on the 50-year-old's LGBTQ+ inclusive TNT series Claws, performing one of her songs on the episode where Niecy's character gets married.

Perhaps there were some clues that the two were more than just friends. Back in February, Jessica posted a photo of her now wife on Instagram wearing nothing but a pair of underwear, with her back facing the camera. "Happy Birthday to a Real One. @niecynash1 #Nicenails," Jessica captioned the photo.

Niecy seemingly acknowledged that the news of her marriage would come as a surprise writing "#PlotTwist" on her Instagram Story.

In October 2019, the Emmy nominee and her husband of 8 years, Jay Tuckerannounced their divorce in a statement shared to Instagram. "We believe in the beauty of truth. Always have," the joint statement read. "Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage. Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share—present tense. Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years. We are grateful."

She was previously married to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007.
