5 DIY Health and Wellness Trends Loved by Celebs!
Raise your hand if you've ever heard of a celebrity raving about the benefits of regularly slurping down a kale-filled smoothie. It's a pretty common statement around Hollywood, isn't it? Green juicing is just one of the many DIY health and wellness trends that A-listers swear by. Considering "do it yourself" is in the title, we figured it was about time to at least learn about some of the others.
We sought out the expert insight of Shanna Israel, a celebrity lifestyle/wellness expert and founder of Vertical Wellness, who explained to us that there's way more to know about than a cold vegetable breakfast drink. Take a look at the top five DIY health and wellness trends adored by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr.
1. Going Gluten-Free
"Even though celebrities might not need to go gluten-free for health reasons, they are leaning towards a gluten-free diet to help keep their figures in place and maintain their health," says Shanna. "Gwyneth Paltrow talks about the benefits of going gluten free and is a big fan."
How to DIY? For starters, you need to remember to look for the phrase gluten-free on the packaging of your groceries. That’s the simplest step to this lifestyle change. “To do your own gluten-free diet, make sure to eliminate foods such as wheat, spelt, rye, and barley. You can us coconut flour, brown rice, or garbanzo bean flour instead. Make-up can have gluten as well, so make sure to ask if you are interested in a gluten-free lifestyle."
2. Juicing
"Juicing, or getting your nutrients from liquid meals of fruits and vegetables, is a great way to get your daily intake of vitamins and keep your energy up. Nicole Richie and Blake Lively have been seen juicing," explains our expert.
How to DIY? This one should be simple! While you can totally visit the juice bar around lunchtime every day, Shanna says that making your own with ingredients like cucumber, leafy greens, and turmeric is largely beneficial.

3. Organic Skincare Products
If Miranda Kerr’s skin is any inclination, organic skincare products do wonders for your complexion. “Many celebrities are using DIY homemade skincare lines created by makeup teams or switching to organic materials in their makeup,” says Shanna.
How to DIY? Shanna suggests searching the Internet for sources of organic beauty and to look for products that have an extra virgin coconut oil base. Miranda Kerr's line Kora Organics is a good solution, too!
4. The Alkaline Diet
This diet is all about keeping the acidity lowered in your body. Our expert says that celebs, like Victoria Beckham, believe this diet shows “amazing results.”
How to DIY? “To start this diet you should eliminate or reduce your intake of meat, dairy, alcohol, and even some nuts like cashews. You can research alkaline foods online and even buy PH strips to test your acidity levels,” she explains.

5. Get Some Sleep!
Who would argue with getting a few more Zz's every night? "Making changes to your bedroom to make sure it’s quiet and dark is an easy way celebs keep their skin healthy and balance their heavy workloads. Jennifer Lopez has credited sleep to her increased energy and skin—and it's obviously working for her beauty regimen," notes Shanna.
