Beauty School Dropout: Brooke attended the EVIT Academy of Cosmetic Arts beauty school for a year before dropping out to persue her singing career. She started cutting hair when she was 11 years old.

Lead Role: Brooke, who started singing at 15, had her first experience of performing in public after her friends talked her into trying out for her high school's production of Meet Me In St. Louis. She got the lead role.

Before Idol: In 2006, Brooke recorded an album called Songs from the Attic on the New Millennium Records Group label.

Never Been Kissed: Good-as-gold Brooke says that her stage kiss in her high school musical was the first time she had kissed anyone apart from her mom and dad.

Life in L.A.: Around four years ago, she moved from Mesa, AZ., to L.A. to study singing at the Musician's Institute. She has lived there since then with her accountant husband, David Ray. They met at a church gathering.
