The finale three of Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez was the tightest top 3 we have seen in a long time on American Idol. Anyone could have gone home last night. But sadly, it was Joshua who had to say goodbye.
After a fun group number and the last Ford music video of the season, which Phillip keeps missing — how sick is this boy, we were treated to fun performances from Lisa Marie Presley and Adam Lambert before we got to the results. You can't help but think of her dad Elvis when Lisa sings, but it is interesting that she has never been able to find huge music success of her own.
On the other hand, Adam just blew that stage away with his powerhouse vocals as he promoted his new album Trespassing.
But enough of the filler, let's get to the results. With the three finalists on center stage, Jessica was the first one to be declared safe. We were surprised by that one, we thought it would be Phillip since he was the obvious one that everyone knew would make it to the finale. And sadly we had to say goodbye to Joshua. We still can't believe it.
Joshua had one of the most amazing voices that has ever been heard on the Idol stage. And judge Jennifer Lopez was clearly emotional over this news.
But as Joshua brought his momma on stage to sing with him, we had to say goodbye.
The finale is next week! Can you believe it? Don't miss Jessica and Phillip singing for your final votes on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
