Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's divorce was a long time coming. According to new reports, Maria has been debating whether to divorce Arnold for the past two years.
TMZ sources report Maria has been unhappy for years, but her mother's death in 2009 and her father's death in early 2011 caused her to decide to wait.
Maria was reportedly tired of Arnold's alleged infidelities and had the support of her children to get a divorce. Maria reportedly felt Arnold was "impossible" to live with and deal with his "craziness," according to TMZ sources.
But another source says Arnold has changed his ways since Maria moved out and has been "working extremely hard" to get her back. "He could not be sweeter now that she's left him," the source explains.
Even though Maria and Arnold have "serious chemistry between them," Maria has reportedly been "miserable" in the marriage.
Maria also reportedly feels unappreciated, but her religious views have caused her distress in deciding whether to divorce. "She's been a lost soul for a long time," one source said.
On Monday, Maria and Arnold announced they have separated after 25 years of marriage.
