"I make sure I sweat everyday. It's my mental floss.” (That’s what my dear friend Jill Kargman says, the genius behind Bravo's Odd Mom Out). Sweating is the body's natural way to heal and stay healthy, and I try to do it everyday. Sometimes it's with aerobic exercise but often while taking a sauna. I prefer an infrared sauna because it heats the body directly, causing a rise in core temperature. Studies say that this results in a deep detoxifying sweat on a cellular level where the toxins are more prevalent. A traditional sauna heats the air around you, which in turn warms your body, but an infrared sauna heats your body directly. The results are weight loss, detoxification, relaxation, pain relief, improved circulation and skin purification. I have read studies that show that sweat from infrared saunas is filled with more toxic waste than sweat from regular saunas. There are spas and wellness centers everywhere that have these saunas that you can use. Look them up in your area. I splurged and bought a small one for my apartment and my whole family uses it (not the little kids)! I feel incredible after each session and my skin looks amazing. I also sleep better at night and feel a sense of total calm. On days where I don't sauna, I try and workout aerobically to get a sweat going. I would love to do both a workout and a sauna but NEVER seem to find the time. Try it and see how you look and feel! I know people who have lost tons of weight using these saunas alongside a healthy eating and exercise plan.
