Barbra Streisand has officially signed on to direct Skinny and Cat, a flick about the romance between writer Erskine Caldwell and photojournalist Margaret Bourke White. The film has culled two A-listers, Colin Firth and Cate Blanchett, to play the title roles.
This will be her first foray back into the world of directing after 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces. The flick is independently funded, which means Babs is currently on the prowl to fundraise the allotted $20 million needed to bring the romance of Erksine and Margaret to life.

"I’m just in shock,” she tells the Los Angeles Times about how hard raising money has become. “Hollywood has changed so much. It’s about a woman ahead of her time. It’s just a fascinating story that is very relevant to today. I may have to pick up the phone again.”
Barbara will be seen this December in The Guilt Trip, co-starring Seth Rogen.
