Blake Lively's Met Gala Modern Tri-Ponytail—Get The Look

I'm always looking for unique ways to style a ponytail so when I spotted Blake Lively's edgy version at the 2013 Costume Institute Gala, I had to find out how to achieve the same look at home. Blake's stylist Rod Ortega shares how to create the punk pony, inspired by Blake's Gucci dress, here.

• First, Rod blew out Blake's hair using the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i dryer until her hair was completely dry.

• Next he used the T3 BodyWaver to create loose waves and volume throughout her hair. “The BodyWaver is ideal for volumizing and creating body, texture and waves,” says Rod.

• Using clear, thin elastic bands, Rod took the hair in three sections: the crown, the back of the head and the nape of the neck and created looped ponytails.
