NEWSBryant Gumbel Announces He Has Lung Cancer

TV personality and sportscaster Bryant Gumbel announced this morning while guest hosting on Live! With Regis & Kelly this morning that he has lung cancer and is undergoing treatment. Bryant, 61, said he had surgery in November to remove a malignant chest tumor.
The news happened after Kelly Ripa asked Bryant to dance and he demurred. He added that part of his lung has also been removed.
"We had told a few people, we told my family, obviously. I even kept it from my staff at Real Sports. So I'm okay for the time being," he said. "I'm hoping they greenlight me to play golf again."
