Bus Rides Inspire Ben Harper

Ben Harper doesn’t like road trips – he prefers bus trips.

“I like to write songs on the bus, so I get on the bus and write songs on the bus,” the 38-year-old singer says. “That’s where life is really happening and people are in touch with themselves to great depths. I just go where the bus takes me. One-way ticket and then I find my way back. I’ll go anywhere, really.”

NYC is his favorite place to go with wife Laura Dern, 41, and their two children Ellery, 6, and Jaya, 3.

“I love it here,” he says. “I love the city.”
