Chris Colfer Dishes on Writing 'Struck By Lightning' at Tribeca Film Festival

Chris Colfer is a seasoned professional as an actor on FOX’s hit show Glee, but pushed his career a step further debuting Struck by Lightning at the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend. The 21-year-old dished on what it was like to both screenwrite and star in the coming-of-age film.

“A lot of the stuff is exactly how I had it in my mind. Or better,” Chris explained via the Huffington Post of seeing his work come to life on the big screen.
The Clovis, Calif., native couldn’t believe how the movie’s all-star cast, including Allison Janney, Dermot Mulroney, Polly Bergen, Christina Hendricks and Sarah Hyland, lived up to the characters that he created.
“They are really the people I envisioned when I was writing this. It's a trip,” Chris said at the film's NYC premiere.

The Brian Dannelly-directed flick, about a high school outcast who starts his own magazine and uses it to blackmail some of the popular kids, was inspired by Chris’ real-life childhood experiences.

“It's something you have to do,” Chris told audience members of putting his creative thoughts onto paper, adding, “You can't ignore it. You have to get stuff down."
