Though he only finished in fourth place on last season’s edition of American Idol, rocker Chris Daughtry‘s career doesn’t seem to be dampened by defeat. Not only is the singer celebrating the success of his self-titled debut album, which leapt to number one on the Billboard charts this week after his moving performance of the National Anthem at the Chicago Bears/New Orleans Saints playoff game last weekend, he’s also just announced the date for a free concert in his hometown of Greensboro, N.C., on March 23. Like his highly televised Star-Spangled Banner performance, this concert is also sports-related; it will serve as an opening ceremony of sorts for the NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament, which begins in Greensboro the following day.
