OK!: How would you describe your sunglass line?

Danica Patrick: It’s really just sunglasses that are my style and fit my lifestyle, all kinds of areas of it—sunglasses that fit me. Within the last year I went to Sunglass Hut and just tried on tons of different sunglasses to get a feel for the style and shape and size and geometry that fits my head. They asked what kind of colors I liked and that’s what they ran with. They came up with one plastic and the rest metal frames, there are four different frames and six different lenses. If you go online you can mix and match and make it whatever you want. The sunglasses are going to be available in October at Sunglass Hut.

OK!: How are the sunglasses you wear while you’re working different than what you might wear in your everyday life?

DP: The aviator shape fits me very well so I think a lot of it for me has to do with colors. When I’m at the track it’s a lot nicer to wear sportier looking colors and frames than when you’re off the track and you can wear more golds and pinks and things like that, which are a little more girly. So for me the shape stays similar I just add a different color.

OK!: Do you make a point to embrace your feminine side more when you’re off the track?

DP: I don’t have to try—I’m way girly off the track. I like to dress up. I love getting hair and makeup done. I love shopping. I love fashion. So for me it’s just who I am. It’s part of my interests.

OK!: When you’re getting dressed up for a big event, whose opinion do you trust the most when you’re deciding what to wear?

DP: Mine. I do. I mean I think it’s really important to get opinions because sometimes you’re looking at only the flaws you see or you think you have and nobody else sees them and all they see is what looks great on you overall. So I think it’s helpful to have an opinion but I remember getting ready for the ESPYs and there were two different shoes I was trying to decide on. My boyfriend liked a different pair and I liked the ones I ended up wearing and basically I said, “Okay, babe, I’ll trust you.” Then in the end I didn’t think they looked as good so I went with my gut. You have to feel confident in what you’re wearing or you don’t look as good.

OK!: Since your boyfriend is also a NASCAR driver, how competitive does it get between the two of you?

DP: We have a healthy competition between the two of us. We’re both competitive people but I think it’s also very productive and healthy.

OK!: Is it helpful to be in a relationship with someone who’s in the same field and gets your industry?

DP: I think so! It’s nice to be with someone who you can talk to and learn from and get opinions on, someone who cares for you and wants the best for you but knows your industry—I think that’s a pretty unique thing.

Danica Patrick's capsule collection for REVO will be available for order soon on REVO.com and in Sunglass Hut locations in October.
