David Arquette is opening up to Oprah Winfrey about his split from Courteney Cox, his struggle with alcohol and his eventual intervention.
For David, drinking began at an unbelievably young age.
“I must have been four years old,” he tells Oprah in an interview that airs tomorrow (via E! News). “I was down in the basement with my dad and the beer was there and I just grabbed it and drank it. I remember that. It’s one of my earliest memories.”
And that first drink eventually lead him to the point of needing an intervention.
“I came back from Miami and I had taken a nap and I woke up and [sister] Patricia [Arquette] and Courteney were at my bed,” he recalls. “I was like, ‘What are you two doing here together?'”
And once David made his way out into the living room, he was greeted by even more people.
“My best friend was there, my business partner and some guy I don’t know, and I go, ‘What up, turkeys? I guess this is my intervention.”
