'Desperate Housewives' Kills Off Major Character! How Will the Big Death Affect the Show?

The producers have been teasing for weeks that a major character would be killed off of Wisteria Lane in last night's episode. And this was definitely huge!

After getting too involved in Ben and Renee's (Charles Mesure and Vanessa Williams) troubles with a loan shark and sharing a sweet moment with wife Susan (Teri Hatcher) on their front stoop, Mike Delfino (James Denton) was shot right through the heart as he pushed his love out of the way and died.
Whoa! Did you see that coming?
Well, unfortunately, some did if they read the reports coming out of Nicollette Sheridan's trial for wrongful termination from the show, where sadly the news was revealed.

Was James upset to hear that he was being killed off before the series finale?
"When they told me about the idea, my first concern was about Teri, who has to mourn for the six episodes," James said this morning on Good Morning America. "But I loved it. It's more interesting that just fading away."
