Although American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino, won a Grammy for Best Female Vocal Performance, during the ceremony she was nowhere to be found. Want to know why? She wasn't asked to sing in the opening tribute to Aretha Franklin and instead, chose to stay home and watch it on TV!
According to The Huffington Post, Fantasia appeared on BET's 106 & Park on Monday to talk about her Grammy absence. She told the hosts, "I'm kind of going through my own little thing." She added, "Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night."
Although she was miffed about not getting asked to join the stage along with Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams and Martina McBride, Fantasia will pay tribute to another icon, R&B legend Mahalia Jackson. Fantasia's already preparing for the role by gaining about forty pounds!
