Fonzworth Bentley Teaches Some Manners

If you want to get ahead in life, you gotta have some manners.
No one knows that better than Fonzworth Bentley.
Diddy’s impeccably groomed former personal assistant is trying to pass on his knowledge in the new reality competition series, From Gs to Gents.
I was curious to learn who taught Fonzworth his flawless etiquette skills. I wasn’t too surprised to learn they came from his mama.
“When I was a teenager at the family dinner table, I used to push the food onto the fork with my hand,” he shares. “My mom said, ‘If you do it one more time, I’m going to send you to etiquette school.'”
Needless to say, Fonzworth spent his summer break learning which utensil to use during a five-course dinner. But the lessons would pay off years down the road.
“I was having dinner with Dr. Bill Cosby, and at the end, he said, ‘I like the way you use your cutlery,’” Fonzworth recalls.
Mom got a call of thanks after that.
Now Fonzworth is hoping he can teach the young men on the show, all lacking in several areas of social grace, how to become the best they can be.

“It doesn’t matter how stylish you are. If you don’t know the basics about presenting yourself positively, you won’t gain entry,” Fonzworth declares.
He mentions one contestant who just couldn’t get control of his temper. “He had been fired from every job because of violence,” Fonzwoth says.
“The hardest part for me on this entire show was seeing a gentleman with so much potential who literally could have been there in the top two, but because of his attitude and letting that get the best of him, he was kicked off.”
Not very gentlemanly at all.
From Gs to Gents premieres Tuesday, July 15 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
