Giuliana Rancic recently sat down with OK! to discuss her battle with breast cancer, the fifth season of her hit reality TV show, Giuliana & Bill, and her red carpet savvy style regimen while hosting a Glade Expressions Collection Dinner. The E! personality played hostess to a group of lucky ladies that night, introducing new Glade products and some fun food and drink pairings to accompany the fresh scents.

Before showcasing her decorating expertise, Giuliana took the time to shed some light on what she’s learned after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

“I think I discovered, and you know, I think most people do this when they go through something like this — that I was stronger than I thought I was,” Giuliana tells OK!. “You know, Bill and I used to always joke — everything scares me. Heights scare me. Airplanes scare me.

Giuliana continued, “And, you know, I think in life — especially as a women, you think, God, what if I got that phone call… if I ever got that call, I would, like crumble and fall apart, and like I couldn’t survive it, and it’s amazing like — you just tap into some inner strength and you just do it.”

In October, Giuliana, alongside her husband, Bill Rancic, announced on the Today show that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that after undergoing a double lumpectomy she would be undergoing a double mastectomy as well. She has since had the surgery and even returned to work!

Her reality TV show, Giuliana & Bill, has been picked up for another season, and Giuliana shared with OK! some things we can expect to see — but don’t expect a season chronicling her fight with cancer. “Some people would take a situation like this and put it all over the news, all over the reality show and try and get ratings and for us that was just something we weren’t interested in,” Giuliana shared with OK!. “We’re not interested in that — you know, we don’t want to milk this opportunity, we don’t want to exploit it.”

Instead, fans will catch a glimpse at the restaurant the happily married couple are starting up, “a lot of Momma DePandi” and a behind-the-scenes look at the fashionista’s red carpet world. After all, Giuliana confessed, “I love work… being able to do events like this, it just reminds me of who I was before all of this. I see it as a welcome distraction.”

But how does the ever-glamorous Giuliana prepare for an event like the Oscars?

She told OK!, “Waking up in the morning and having an omelet and vegetables and just doing hair and makeup stuff — prepping, thinking about my questions and going through the names that I’m a little unclear about. I just get in the zone. Like a football play on Super Bowl Sunday.”

While Giuliana is sure to end up on the best-dressed list, what does she do when she has to interview a celeb sure to end up on the worst dressed?

The E! host revealed to OK!, “What I do is — I don’t say I like your dress. Instead I’ll go, Hey, how are you? Who are you wearing? I will tell people right then and there if I think they look amazing. But if I don’t, I don’t want to lie to people either. I hope there’s no celebrities reading this.” Watch out, nominees!

As for any red carpet nerves, Giuliana admits to OK! that seeing “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt — it’s still a little nerve-racking. But they’re like the King and Queen of Hollywood.”

Catch E! presenter Giuliana as she greets the celebrity arrivals at the Oscars on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. ET.
