Gladys Horton, Marvelettes Lead Singer, Dies at 66

Lead singer of the Marvelettes, Gladys Horton, died on Thursday after suffering complications from a stroke she had in 2010. She was 66.

Gladys was recovering from a stroke she suffered at a Sherman Oaks, Calif. when she passed away yesterday, her son, Vaughn Thornton, said in a statement to Reuters.
"My mother died peacefully," he said. "She fought as long as she could."

Gladys was only 17 years old when she sang the hit song, "Please Mr. Postman," with the Marvelettes in 1961. She left the group in 1967.
