Hugh Laurie, the British-born star of Fox's hit medical drama, House, has scored a record deal to make a New Orleans blues album.
The actor, who plays the acerbic doc Gregory House, will team up with various guest musicians to record the album this summer, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph.

"I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity," says Hugh. "I know the history of actors making music is a checkered one, but I promise no one will get hurt.
"I am particularly thrilled to be working with producer Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favorite records of all time, and I can't wait to get started."

Hugh, 52, currently plays keyboards on Band From TV, a charity group including Desperate Housewives' James Denton, Heroes' Greg Grunberg and House's Jesse Spencer.
Musician and producer Joe Henry has total confidence in the self-taught star: "All musicians are actors to begin with — our jobs being to embody characters and articulate stories for three and four minutes at a time.
