Howard Stern: "They Gave Poor Old Regis Philbin the Boot"

Howard Stern has his own theory on why Regis Philbin is leaving Live! With Regis & Kelly and he shared it last night on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Howard started chatting with David Letterman on the show (via Radar Online) about late night ratings when the radio host referenced Regis.

"I’m in your corner, I’m rooting for you – listen, I don’t want the same thing happening to you that happened to Regis," Howard said.

Apparently, Howard has the inside scoop, jokingly saying he's neighbors with Regis and stalked him to find out about his retirement news.

"He got fired, he went in and asked for more money, and they gave poor old Regis the boot," Howard said.

But Howard wishes Regis the best as has some advice for him!

"Regis should go on, and take a new show, and compete in that same time period and win!" he said. "Kick some a--!"
