Hugh Jackman was spotted in NYC yesterday trying to flag down a taxi cab. Hugh and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness were picking up their daughter Ava from school. Surprisingly, he couldn't catch a cab! The trio was rescued when a friend offered to drive them home.

Hugh was all smiles even though the cab catch was unsuccessful. It's probably because Ava is totally adorable, and he's a happy dad!

Meanwhile, Hugh's been filming the newest installment of the X-Men series, The Wolverine. His director, Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) told him to eat 6,000 calories a day to pack on the pounds! Good pounds, of course, as Hugh has been working out at the gym daily.
