'The Hunger Games' Breaks Records with $155 Million Opening Weekend

As reported yesterday, the Hunger Games raked in $68.25 million on its opening night alone across the board for North American ticket sales. Now, new reports reveal that the flick is breaking even more box office records coming in with the third biggest opening weekend ever!

E! Online reports that the film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Josh Hutcherson, took in a whopping $155 million in sales from Friday to Sunday!

These record-setting numbers beat out the opening weekend grosses for Spider-Man and even Pirates of the Caribbean.

On Saturday alone, Hunger Games, which was released in theaters on Mar. 23, raked in around $51 million, not to mention close to $20 million on just midnight showings Friday.
