Ian Somerhalder is dying to star in the movie adaptation of the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey! (And we're dying to see him land the part!)
At the CW Upfront Presentation today in NYC, The Vampire Diaries star revealed why he thinks he's perfect for the role of Christian Grey, who (if you haven't heard already) is master in the bedroom.
"I think it would be an amazing thing," Ian told MTV News of the possibility of getting the role. "One interesting thing is, by the virtue of playing Damon for now a few years, he's 170 plus years old, in love with an 18-year-old, I officially have a lot of experience seducing younger women," Ian added. "I'm not saying, I'm just saying."
Fifty Shades of Grey tells the story of Christian's "romance" with college graduate Anastasia Steele, who succumbs to her sexual desires and begins an emotional, and extremely sexual relationship with Mr. Grey. And the chapters in the book are so hot at times that readers, including Ian himself, get a bit overwhelmed!
"A little bit, yeah," Ian said of whether or not he feels uncomfortable reading the S&M scenes. "There's blushing."
But although Ian is campaigning to play Christian himself, he also has a slew of fans backing him up, including his girlfriend Nina Dobrev, who told OK! she bought him the book, and co-stars Candice Accola and Kat Graham, who "love" him for the role.
"I know he's campaigning, I love it," Candice told MTV. "I mean, the whole thing is like Adonis, sexy and he fits that bill pretty well." And Kat agrees, "Ian's an amazing actor, he's extremely dedicated to his craft. They'd be lucky to have him."
Do you think Ian should play Christian Grey?
