Matthew McConaughey's career is on fire—the man has been in more noteworthy projects in the past year and a half than any other actor in Hollywood. With his highly-anticipated HBO series True Detective premiering on January 12, is the Texas native worried his hot streak will come to an end?

"I'm still in the present tense of the year that's going on," Matthew told reporters at the Television Critics Assocation Winter Press Tour promoting True Detective. "I haven't gone retro yet. I've done a lot of work over the last few years and I had it jam packed. I was able to be in some things I liked a lot last year and then this year...I was talking about this earlier, we finish these things over a year ago and we're just now declaring them and they have a brand new life. Other things I've done maybe had a shelf life quicker. These things are feeling really relevant and they're picking up people's interest and they're resonating."

"I haven't really thought about whether or not I'm going to have another really good year," he admits. "Part of it is because I haven't looked in the rear view mirror in a while and I hope I don't. I'm in no way in a retrospective mode."
