The Emmy nominations were announced this morning, which means it's time to start arguing. Who was snubbed? (Mindy Kaling!) Who are you totally surprised by? (Kate Mara for House of Cards!) Which is the category that's most confusing? (Nurse Jackie is still not a comedy!). Here's one topic that's ripe for debate: Which of these shows is the most overrated?
It feels like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are just permanent fixtures in the Best Comedy category at this point. Surprisingly, so is Girls at this point; while it wasn't nominated as a series, stars Lena Dunham and Adam Driver both got nods.
Now comes the really controversial one: Orange Is the New Black received a whopping twelve nominations, with five of the ladies getting acting nods. Some of the actresses, like Laverne Cox, had a minimal amount of lines this entire second season. Are the Emmys trying to make a statement about the death of cable TV, with Netflix, FX, HBO, and Showtime dominating the day? Perhaps. They might be capitalizing on all that buzz, and that doesn't mean the shows are actually good. But it's time for you to weigh in! Vote now:
