It Feels Like Sundown
March 3 2008, Published 11:47 a.m. ET
Today was my first day 'working' in L.A. My computer hasn't arrived in the L.A. office yet from New York and my car isn't being delivered to me until tonight, so I 'worked' all day — and am still working — at a coffee shop a few blocks from my house. The magazine goes to print today so in NYC Mondays for me begin at 9 a.m. In L.A. that means they start at 6 a.m.! Honestly, I think I've seen 6 a.m. more often stumbling home than setting an alarm to wake up at that hour! I've been sitting in this coffee shop glued to my laptop, writing the News at Night pages for the last EIGHT hours and counting — and it's only 3 p.m. here! I'm ready for a nap. Too bad I'm not much of a napper because I feel like I'm missing something or not doing something I should be doing — and I'm having my car delivered and dinner plans. But, can hardly complain. I at least have a consistent flow of coffee making my makeshift office the coffee shop and I get to take 'business' calls outside on the patio in the sunshine ;) xo
