James Franco: From General Hospital to 30 Rock

Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Steve Martin, Matthew Broderick and David Schwimmer are just some of the guest stars to grace the set of 30 Rock, now Hollywood's most unpredictable actor, James Franco, will do a turn on Tina Fey's comedy.

EW.com reports the Spider-Man star will follow up his role on the daytime soap, General Hospital, with a taste of primetime.

The 31-year-old, who is playing himself, will have a fake romance with Jane Krakowski's Jenna, engineered by their respective agents to boost their profiles.

The Harvey Milk actor (and Columbia grad student) will start filming his episode this week.

While it's unusual for an A-lister to appear in a soap, James continues to surprise fans most recently with a video sending-up his role as the Gucci spokesmodel.
