James Franco New Job Title: Director for R.E.M. Film Project!

Oscars nominee and co-host, Ph.D. candidate at Yale, General Hospital star and now music video director. Does James Franco do it all or what? Michael Stipe has announced that multi-talented James will be among a list of guest directors to create short films for R.E.M.! Each film will accompany a track on R.E.M.'s upcoming album, Collapse Into Now which will be released on March 8.

Michael is attempting to bring back the album as a means to breathe life back into the long player. He told NME (via Huffington Post), "It was really fun for me to curate, working with all these different artists, and seeing how they interpreted the songs. The thing that was surprising is how much they interlockingly work, like an album."
