Jennifer Lawrence Wins Golden Globe: "I Beat Meryl!"
Jan. 13 2013, Published 12:21 p.m. ET
Jennifer Lawrence won a Golden Globe tonight for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, and she said what we suspect all actresses who win over the legendary Meryl Streep are thinking: "I beat Meryl!"
We thought the comment was very funny, very off-the-cuff and very...well...Jennifer! But we want to know what you think! We thought it sounded like some people in the audience weren't sure what to make of the comment—but Jennifer won them all over in the end! Besides, we have a feeling Meryl won't mind.
Addendum: Thanks, readers for pointing out that Jennifer was quoting The First Wives Club (although honestly, we wish you weren't so upset with us for not immediately recognizing a quote from a movie that came out about 17 years ago). In any case, we took the comment for what it was: a joke, and we want to know what you think! Cool points for those of you who picked up on the ref!
