Just a few days after ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Manillo, Jessica Simpson came out with good news of the same nature.
"Yes, I am excited to confirm that they are engaged!" Jessica’s rep confirmed to OK! of her engagement to former football player Eric Johnson.

An insider tells OK! that Jessica had no idea Eric was going to pop the question.
"It was a total surprise. She had no idea he was going to propose!" the insider explained.

Eric gave his bride-to-be a Neil Lane ruby ring. The source adds that, "He picked the ring out all on his own."
And, the former 49er has good taste according to a jewerly expert, who told OK! that, "Because it's a ruby and because of the rareness, it cost a little over $185,000."
