Jessica Simpson's Dad Joe Simpson Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charge

Joe Simpson was pulled over in Sherman Oaks, Calif. and arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on August 4.

He was was officially charged with two misdemeanor counts a few days later on August 15, one for driving under the influence and one for driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.

Reports say, the 54-year-old father to Jessica and Ashlee was in court again today and pleaded not guilty in an L.A. courtroom today.

If convicted, the Texas preacher could receive the maximum sentence which is six months in jail, 36 months probation and a $1,000 fine.

He will be arraigned on August 30 in L.A.

A source told People Joe had "a couple of glasses of wine at dinner with his wife" and took a breathalyzer voluntarily.
