Joan Rivers' Cause of Death Has Officially Been Confirmed
It took over a month for experts to determine Joan Rivers' cause of death, but finally, we have an answer.
E! News reports that today, the New York City Medical Examiner released a statement explaining exactly why Joan died. It reads:
OK! News: Who's Going to Replace Joan Rivers on Fashion Police?
"OCME has completed its investigation. The cause of Ms. Rivers' death is anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease. The manner of death is therapeutic complication. The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy."

We're not sure what that medical jargon means, but we do understand that part about the death being a "therapeutic complication." Basically, Joan died due to a problem during a surgery which was supposed to help her throat condition, but clearly it only made everything worse.
