JOHN TURTURRO TALKS SUSAN SARANDON, LONG-LASTNG MARRIAGE

John Turturro directs Susan Sarandon in the musical Romance and Cigarettes (out now).

“She’s really funny,” he tells me. “She’s a person who’s always aware of every person on the crew. If anyone has a problem, she’s the person who will take care of it. She’s a real team person. She likes to take care of everybody. She’s a lovely person.”

John, 50, has been married to wife Katherine for 22 years, and they are parents to two sons, Armedeo, 17, and Diego, 7. The couple enjoys traveling, exercising and listening to music together. Why are they a match made in heaven? “We listen to each other. We still like each other. We still discover certain things about each other. It’s hard to be in a long relationship, especially in this business. She’s someone I respect, too.”
