In another tough twist for Jon and Kate Gosselin, who are going through a very public ordeal after cheating rumors became public, a new report says the couple are being investigated for possibly violating child labor laws. They have 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets, all who appear on TLC reality show, Jon & Kate Plus 8.

First reported by the Associated Press, OK! has spoken to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, which says that it is looking into a complaint -- but can't say who they're investigating.

They did confirm to us that they received a complaint.

"Our bureau of labor law compliance is conducting an investigation as they do whenever they receive a charge," Christopher Manlove, spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Labor and Industry tells OK!.

"But because it's ongoing, I can't discuss the content of the investigation."

He also clarifies that the investigation is because of a complaint they received.

"We don't initiate the charge. We receive a complaint and we respond. We're what's called complaint driven. So if somebody's going to file some kind of charge a party has violated Pennsylvania labor law, they go to our website, download a form, fill it out and send it to us and we respond. We are complaint driven. We don't initiate it, but we'll conduct an investigation if we receive a complaint."

The show’s network released a statement in response to the complaint: “TLC fully complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Jon & Kate Plus 8 is no exception. For an extended period of time, we have been engaged in cooperative discussions and supplied all requested information to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor. We will continue to engage the appropriate officials and meet any standards or regulations that are applicable to TLC productions.”
