Josh Duhamel & Julianne Hough to Star in New Nicholas Sparks Film 'Safe Haven'

Get ready for this one, Notebook lovers! Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough have officially signed on to star in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel Safe Haven.
Relativity Media closed deals with the actors, who will begin filming the romance thriller next month in Southport, North Carolina. The film is set to be released right before Valentine's Day next year on February 8.

Safe Haven tells the suspenseful story of a young woman, Katie (Julianne), who struggles to find love again after she arrives in a small town in North Carolina. She ends up meeting the widowed store owner and father of two, Alex (Josh), whom she begins a relationship with. But dark secrets intrude on Katie's new life and she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and true love.
“I’m thrilled that Josh and Julianne have agreed to come aboard Safe Haven," Nicholas said in a press release. "It’s hard to think of an actor better-suited to play the character of Alex than Josh, and Julianne will bring a combination of vulnerability and strength to the role of Katie."

Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules) will direct the film with the help of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Nicholas will also produce under executive producer and Relativity's president, Tucker Tooley. The screenplay is written by Dana Stevens (City Of Angels) and Les Bohem (Dante’s Peak).
