According to the Huffington Post, Fireflies in the Garden premiered in 2008 at the Berlin Film Festival, but due to financial problems it never hit theaters in the U.S. — until now!
Julia and Ryan's film will finally arrive on Oct. 14, and it looks like it will be worth it. Both onscreen and off, the shifting of time is essential in the telling of the tale of Fireflies in the Garden.
In the film Julia plays the mother of a young boy, who is later aged to be Ryan. Julia's character has an abusive husband (Willem Dafoe), who leaves their son on the side of the road one day — and 17 years later he returns home for a family reunion. The mother (Julia), however, is killed that day in a car accident and the father and son struggle to work through their problems.
