Considering his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, conducted pre-show interviews for MTV, it was only natural that she interviewed the Biebs. According to RadarOnline she stated, "I'm here with the one-and-only Justin Bieber. Who are you wearing? Can you please talk about that?"

To which point the Biebs replied and showed his reptile friend in his hand, "I have my snake. I have red pants and cheetah shoes." Selena asked about the snake's name and he mentioned the name is Johnson.

Then onward to more serious matters, she asked, "You're up for Best Male Video. I wanna know, you're up against Eminem and Bruno Mars. Do you feel a little nervous at all?"

As for his response, Justin said, "You know, I'm just excited to be in the category with such amazing people. I'm just happy to be here." As they dished a little more and he added he was excited to see Beyonce, he leaned over to kiss her cheek as she stated, "Thank you so much. Thank you for hanging out, babe."
