As reported by The Boombox, although Kanye's name was on the foundation, he didn't fund it all by himself. The foundation filed taxes like a private charity and contacted corporations Kanye has done business with like Madison Square Garden. They donated $151,74! Overall, the charity raised almost $500,000 each year.
